Juan Martinez
Completed a Masters Degree in Classical Percussion at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland, with the help of the FONCA scholarship.
In 1999, he won the first prize at the National Solo Marimba Competition in Chiapas, Mexico.
In 2001, he was awarded with the first prize at the International Marimba Duo Competition (Belgium) with XOC Duo. In 2005 he won the 3rd prize at the International Percussion Competition (Luxembourg) with the Ear Massage Percussion Quartet, as well as the 2nd prize at the 2009 International Gaudeamus Competition (Amsterdam).
As a soloist, he has been working very close with young composers, premiering during the last years several works written for him. Specialised in contemporary music, he has collaborated with different ensembles, orchestras and dance companies, playing in more than 24 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East and America. Juan is currently a member, Ear Massage Quartet, Me La Margates Tú, and the Percussion Professor at the Universidad Veracruzana, in Jalapa, Veracruz, México.
